2025 Kinghorn Re-attempt

going to be reattempting a hike of the Kinghorn rail line from Nipigon to Thunder Bay solo. planning on departing Thunder Bay June 19th and starting the trail the following day. i have been thinking about this for a while and i think im ready to take it on. im going to go at the pace that i usually travel at. i think day 2 will be important as i need to at least approach pass lake or land there for the night. i aint crossing the trestle, too high up for me haha! so i will meet gen in pass lake to get a ride past the trestle and continue on foot to Thunder Bay.

not much gear changes for 2025 except a new pad pump from Rex Creations (9g), a new Platypus QuickDraw filter (replaced my original via warranty, was clogged up and I think it was from a bad batch), and a new Thermarest NeoAir NXT reg-wide sleeping pad. rocking a new Patagonia capeline cool daily sunhoody in a lavender purple, and a new Tentree camp to give my other one a break.

kinda bummed that my Uberlite failed, but i guess i knew it was going to happen one day, but given how many nights i put on it, i was surprised it happened that quick. the last 2 baffles at the end of the pad have become delaminated and has produced a large "lump". i didnt mind it at first but when i tested the pad out in the back the other week, another baffle has started to delaminate. Thermarest sent me the NXT pad as a replacement under warranty. i definitely appreciate it. i wish they would find out why the Uberlite failed and release an updated version though. Nemo has an ultralight pad out there now but no reg-wide version (i prefer a wide pad). maybe next season?
