so far the year has been going good for me. i started dieting and doing the running thing again, along with (hopefully) the final time i attempt to quit smoking the joints for good, on january 2 2026. after a week, the cravings to smoke joints went away pretty fast, and i suspect running helped curb those feelings even more. it sucked running for the first month because i had to get acclimated with it all over again.

i started with walking 1km and running 2km. felt gassed quickly, but with each passing day that i went to the complex to run, i was able to run for 3km, then eventually 5km. had the watch set to 2km for a bit but then it went to 7km on its own? i noticed it one day and then i started running 10km lol. i was always exceeding the distance goal on the watch. i ran pretty much every day except the weekends for a bit. then i started running 10km for the entire month of march. cool, so basically i said to myself that i was ready to run the 10 mile road race and signed up for it.

as it got warmer outside, i finally did my first outdoor run 2 weeks before the race happened. it was an adjustment but i felt good. then the race happened and i flew through it. the cold air at first interrupted my breathing control, but after 20 minutes of running, my body was warming up and getting used to the air. the breathing control came back and i had no issues running the entire thing. i had a great time and it turned out that i beat my previous 2 times from 2024 (1:21:18, placed 177/503) and 2025 (1:29:57, placed 272/586), with a time of 1:21:04, placing 171 out of 780 individual runners. cool!

was feeling good about all of the training i put in so far to revitalize the running hobby again. my goal for 2026 was to replicate the success of 2024 and so far i have been meeting that goal. so i decided to sign up for the metre eaters signature race series again this year. i had a good time in 2024 participating. i didnt participate in 2025 because i was back on the joints and didnt want to do anything at all. the other day i ran the june classic race, signing up for the 10km race again. i placed 8 out of 51 other 10km runners, with a time of 51:25.7, as well as placing 1st in the age 30-39 category. cool!

looking forward to collecting those medals this year. they stick together with a magnet!
